Over 7 sessions we will dwell deeper into

  1. Helping Children Deal With Their Feelings
    Exploration of what happens to children when their feelings are denied. Specific skills that help children to recognize and cope with negative feelings, also ways to accept their feelings and limit unacceptable behavior.
  2. Engaging Cooperation
    How children react to the usual methods to get them to cooperate: threats, warnings, orders, name calling, sarcasm, lecturing etc. we will learn five ways to invite their cooperation that will leave the parents and children happier in the relationship
  3. Alternatives to Punishment & Problem Solving
    How do children react to punishment? Is it necessary to rely upon punishment as a means of discipline?
  4. Encouraging Autonomy
    Children must be aided in becoming separate, responsible individuals who can function on their own in life.
  5. Praise & Self Esteem
    An exploration of the kinds of praise that build a positive and realistic self image and the kinds that do not.
  6. Freeing Children From Roles
    Unknowingly we cast children in roles which can become their identity, lets explore how we can free them from playing out these roles. Did you know positive labels have their own way of damaging a child’s self image?
